Steve Woods, PLS, is a seasoned land surveyor with more than 30 years of experience delivering precise, dependable geospatial solutions across Washington State. Known for his accuracy, efficiency, and practical insight, Steve helps clients move projects forward with confidence—from early site evaluation through final construction.
His expertise includes field-to-finish GPS surveys, boundary and subdivision work, A.L.T.A./NSPS land title surveys, topographic and construction surveys, wetland surveys, and Records of Survey. Steve brings deep familiarity with survey research and standards across Pierce, Kitsap, Mason, Kittitas, Snohomish, Thurston, and King Counties, as well as the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, ensuring locally informed and technically sound results.
At Contour Engineering, Steve plays a key role in delivering responsive, high-quality surveying services. He combines extensive field and office experience with advanced technical capabilities, including robotic instrumentation, GPS data collection, and modern data processing workflows. His leadership in training—covering survey mapping, research, analysis, and field procedures—has strengthened team performance and consistency across projects.
Steve has extensive experience managing GPS-based control networks, including both static and RTK systems, using Trimble receivers and software for horizontal and vertical control. He has also contributed to expanding the firm’s capabilities by integrating 3D laser scanning and UAV-based aerial surveying.
Throughout his career, Steve has served as Project Land Surveyor and Project Manager, supporting civil design and construction projects with precise boundary and topographic data that clients rely on to make informed decisions.
