SURVEY FIELD TECHNICIAN/CHAINMAN
We are looking to fill the position of a Survey Field Technician/Chainman for immediate hire.

About the Position
The Technician/Chainman is responsible to assist the Survey Part Chief in the completion of boundary and topographic surveys, as well as construction staking. The work is completed outdoors, in all types of weather and terrain. Primarily responsible for providing assistance to Survey Crew leaders and office staff for the field crews/offices daily needs. Ideal candidates will have 1-3 years of experience.
Duties
Work under the supervision of the Survey Party Chief and Chief of Parties.
Maintain equipment, vehicles and shop space used by the crew.
Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other heavy items, and stacking rods.
Position and hold the vertical rods, or targets, that operators use for sighting to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
Assist in the search for section corners, property irons, and survey points.
Assist in setting out and recovering stakes, marks, and other monumentation.
Conduct field visits and inspections at construction sites and a wide variety of outdoor locations by safely navigating all types of terrain, including potentially hazardous sites, in all weather conditions.
Establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with agencies, clients, contractors, and Contour Engineering LLC.
Position requires working mostly forty-hour weeks with occasional overtime or weekend projects.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Will sit, stand or walk varying distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis.
Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.
May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate a hammer and brush clearing equipment.
A current, valid Washington State driver’s license, at time of hire and maintained at all times in order to operate a vehicle on company business.
